Steve Rice

Steve Rice is an associate professor in the Media Convergence Departmentof the Missouri School of Journalism. He teaches several core courses in media convergence, including Basic Multimedia Reporting and Micro Documentary Photography and Recording. He earned a quasi-bachelor’s degree in art from the Orange County Beach Community College in California, specializing in photography, and later a bachelor of arts degree from the California Fullerton State University. Rice has extensive experience in the news industry. From 2007 to 2009, he worked as a photographer and video producer in the news feature department of the Star Tribunein Minneapolis and in the newspaper's news video group from 2009 to 2010. Rice also worked in the Photography Department in the Miami Herald. Under his leadership, the Department won two Pulitzer Prizes and was shortlisted for three other awards.

David Herzog

David Herzog is an associate professor in the Missouri School of Journalism and a senior data editor and trainer for the Investigative Reporters and Editors, Inc. He is also an academic advisor to the American Computer-Assisted Reporting Association. He received a bachelor's degree in radio, film and television from Temple University, and worked as a comprehensive news reporter and investigative reporter in Foresight, Morning Call, Baltimore Sun and other newspapers. In 2002, he joined Missouri College. Herzogis good at big data analysis and is able to use the results of data analysis to mine news. He is responsible for the teaching of data journalism and data visualization courses and professiona lworkstations. Herzog also published the monograph Illustrated News: Geographic Information System and News Case Studies.

Bill Allen

BillAllen had 25 years of experience as a journalist before joining the Missouri School of Journalism in 2004. As an expert inscience, environment, and medical reporting, he holds the title o fjoint professor of the School of Journalism and the School of Agriculture. He graduated from the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign and the University of Illinois in Chicago, receiving a master's degree in journalism and history, respectively. Allen used to cover environment and medical technology as a reporter for the Louisville Daily Newsand St. Louis Express.As a freelance writer, he has written for many media outlets,including The Washington Post, NewScientist, and Biological Science.

Mike McKean

Associate Professor Mike McKean is the Director of the Future Communication Technology Center of the Missouri School of Journalism and also serves as chairman of the Information Technology Committee of the University of Missouri. He used to be head of the Media Convergence Department of the Missouri School of Journalism. McKean promoted the cooperation between the Missouri School of Journalism and Apple Computer and Macromedia (the company that has Adobe Photoshop and other products in its product line) incomputerized journalism education. McKean trained the networked editorial departments for local media in the United States, Russia, Albania and other countries. At the same time, he also helped Moscow State University design and improve the curriculum of media convergence. McKean is also a frequent guest on KBIA Radio and KBIA website's weekly media review program — News View. McKean received his bachelor's degree from Missouri Schoolof Journalism in 1979 and his master's in political science from Rice University in 1985. Since 1986, he has been teaching at the Missouri School of Journalism and has won the University of Missouri Teacher-Alumni Award and Kemper Teaching Scholarship, which is one of the top awards for teachers of the University of Missouri.

Amy Simons

Associate Professor Simons joined the Missouri School of Journalism in August 2010 as a professor in the Department of Media Convergence, mainly teaching multi-platform news reporting and editing courses.She served as executive editor of electronic news of the Chicago Tribune,where she was responsible for the development and implementation of the integrated editorial strategy on the website for the ChicagoTribune. During this period, she worked closely with the news centers of WGN-TV, CLTV, and WGN-AM of the Chicago Tribune Group, coordinating and reporting a large number of daily breaking news and planned news. Before becoming executive editor of electronic news of the Chicago Tribune,she worked for the CLTV 24-hour cable news station for sevenyears, serving on a string of news reporting and editing postsbefore becoming executive editor. While working at CLTV, Simmons produced the award-winning TV financial magazine show YourWealthand was responsible for several reports on elections in Chicago, Illinois and the United States. She received a bachelor's degreefrom the School of Journalism at the University of Missouri in 1999.

Zhang Yuyan

Professor Zhang Yuyan is the director of the China Cooperation Program of the Global Exchange Program Center of the Missouri School of Journalism. He used to be deputy director of the political and cultural department of Guangzhou Daily, deputy editor of the Guangzhou English Morning Postand deputy director of the Guangzhou Daily Group. He received his master's degree from the Missouri School of Journalism in 2002 and a doctorate in May 2008. He has focused his research on media convergence, media group management, media economics and international journalism. Zhang is a member of the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC), the International Communication Association (ICA), the International Association for Communication (ICA), and the China Communication Association (USA) in the United States.
